About the therapist
Hi! My name is Brittany Swanson and I am a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in the state of Texas (license number: MT135548). I graduated from the Lauterstein-Conway Massage School and Clinic in Austin, TX and it was the best decision of my life.
As a teenager, I suffered from chronic back pain and while the chiropractor was helpful for getting my structure re-aligned, it wasn't until my doctor suggested massage that I decided to give it a try. This changed the game for my pain levels and I quickly became the type to recommend therapeutic massage to friends and family and probably even strangers, if we're being honest!
Fast forward (several) years later to a point where I was looking for a different career path. My criteria was simple: it had to involve helping people and I wanted to establish a genuine connection with them. Massage therapy. It had always been something that had helped me and countless others I knew and I knew if I could bring an ounce of relief to those suffering with soft tissue discomfort, it would be the most satisfying career.
My mission is simple: help others find relief while providing unconditional acceptance and a safe space to heal and flourish. Together we will fortify your body and mind for whatever the world throws at you.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do I undress for the massage?
This is a personal choice. If you find more comfort remaining completely clothed, then we will work that way. Please understand that I can work with fascia better without clothing, but I respect whatever boundaries you may have. I use draping (using the sheet) to ensure that private regions remain covered while I work, as is required by Texas law.
What if I get uncomfortable?
At any point during the massage, please speak up and tell me so! I will do whatever necessary to make sure you feel comfortable, but if I can't, you are always welcome to terminate the session. In addition, if you make me uncomfortable, I too may terminate the session.
Do we talk?
This is completely up to the individual. Some people find that they would rather hold a conversation while receiving massage while others simply want to use the time to relax in silence. I do check in a few times throughout the session to ensure pressure is comfortable, but will keep talking to a minimum if that's your preference.
Your time is valuable and so is mine. Give me a 24 hour notice so I can try to fill your appointment slot, but I understand things happen last minute. If it's less than 24 hours, you'll be charged 50% of the appointment cost.
I value my clients' health and as such, I fully sanitize all equipment and surfaces between each and every client and provide fresh linens. My expectations of you are to be sure to let me know if you've been exposed to someone with COVID-19 within the past few days or if you're feeling unwell. We'll reschedule your appointment until you've passed the 5 day mark without any symptoms, just to be safe. If you test positive or you are cancelling your appointment last minute because of COVID, I will waive the cancellation fee and refund the amount of the massage if paid for.
Do you accept insurance?
Unfortunately we do not accept insurance at this point in time, but it's something we hope to offer in the future!
